Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Internal Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Mayatunna said that there are more than 100,000 employees in government service without any jobs.
He said this while participating in a program held in a Sinhala media yesterday.
Even if not one-third can maintain government service
He further commented, “There is a problem in maintaining civil servants without specific job allocation, there has been overcrowding in the civil service through irregular recruitment of civil servants.
There are 16 lakh people in government service. Even if not one-third of the existing civil servants can maintain civil service”, he said.
