The Carnival Ball of the Fundação Cultural do Pará (FCP) took a large audience last weekend to Praça do Povo, located in Centur, in Belém. The event featured several cultural attractions from Pará that entertained the participants, with emphasis on the parade of young misses, the always contagious joy of the Crias do Curro Velho drums and the irreverence of the best of ages.

Not even the rain kept people from attending Centur. On Saturday, the 10th, the program began with Téo Pérola singing Carnival classics, followed by Orquestra Aerofônica and singer Joelma Kláudia.

Commercial representative Anderson Viegas approved the State Government’s initiative through FCP. “For people who like Carnival and who have gone through a pandemic, it is great to have this opportunity for fun, for joy, to bring the children to have fun. I am the father of two girls and being able to provide them with the joy of Carnival is something extremely positive. The current government is very inclusive, participating in the lives of citizens, especially those with low incomes. Governor Helder is doing a great job, providing leisure time for people and young people,” he said.

On Sunday, the 11th, the attraction was the Crias do Curro Velho drums, which held a procession through Praça do Povo, entertaining those present, especially the children. They were even the highlights in the Children’s Carnival Costume Parade. The misses and other children in costume gave cute presentations, raising the crowd in the space. “I’m feeling inspired. (Parading) It was something I’ve never done and I’m very happy”, said little Júlia Campos, aged seven.

Elderly revelers were also present at another Carnival Ball held by the Fundação Cultural do Pará, which also featured songs by Nega Rô and the ever-present presence of singer Eloi Iglesias. “I thought everything was great, the program was really fun. I came with my son’s family at the last minute and I’m loving it”, said diarist Manuela Fagundes, summing up the participants’ feeling of joy.

“The objective of the FCP Carnival Ball is always this, to bring together all audiences, the family within an environment of fun and tranquility. Not to mention the time for socializing with house staff and family members. We saw the joy of the adults, but also the contagious celebration of the children and the elderly, who enjoy those little marches characteristic of Carnival. It was a program that reached all ages”, assesses the president of FCP, Thiago Miranda.
