Liverpool, the competitor in the English Premier League, announced today, Wednesday, the appointment of former Bournemouth coach Richard Hughes as a new sporting director, starting at the end of the 2023-2024 season, as it prepares for the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Earlier this month, Bournemouth announced that the former Scottish midfielder (44 years old) would leave his position as technical director at the end of the current season after taking charge in 2016.
Hughes also played for two spells with the South Coast team between 1998-2002 and 2012-2014.
He will replace Jörg Schmadtke and join Michael Edwards, who was appointed chief executive of football operations by Liverpool’s Fenway Group last week after 10 highly successful years at the club.
