With their new record “72 Seasons”, the US band Metallica is celebrating their tenth number one album in Germany. The musicians around James Hetfield are at the top of the official German charts, as announced by GfK Entertainment. The metal band has been mixing up the top 100 for over 35 years, it said.
The South Tyrolean singer Rudy Giovannini takes second place in the current album charts with “Hast Du Zeit?”. Like Metallica, he’s a newcomer.
Herbert Grönemeyer with “Das ist los” and Depeche Mode with “Memento Mori” follow in third and fourth place. Grönemeyer, who was fifth last week, is overtaking Depeche Mode; the synth-pop group remains fourth. The current Top 5 ends with a newcomer: the American guitarist Joe Bonamassa with “Tales Of Time (Live)”.

New on the five is “Daylight” by David Kushner. With his soulful songs and millions of followers on Tiktok, he is perhaps the most sought-after newcomer of the hour, according to GfK Entertainment.
As the charter agent from Baden-Baden further reported, Udo Lindenberg and Apache 207 drew level with DJ Ötzi and Nik P. in the number one rankings. “Their hit ‘Ein Stern (… der alten Namen)’ also topped the hit list eleven times in 2007. If ‘Komet’ continues to be at the top next week, it would be the German-language song with the most number of top spots in over three decades,” it said. (dpa)
