BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has physically returned to the political program after five months of imprisonment and physical problems.
He returned to the party program after a long time by participating in the iftar party organized by BNP in honor of diplomats at a hotel in Gulshan on Sunday (March 24).
Sources in BNP’s media cell have informed that he will participate as the chief guest in the freedom fighter’s rally on the occasion of Independence Day under the party office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Monday (March 25).
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell, said that the BNP secretary general did not participate in any political program after being released from prison. Today (Monday) he will participate as chief guest in the rally of freedom fighters in Paltan of the capital.
He said that after the BNP’s general meeting on October 28 last year, the first rally is going to be held in front of the party office in Nayapaltan on Monday.
Incidentally, on October 28 last year, there was a clash between the police and the party’s leaders over the rally called by the BNP. The day after this incident, Mirza Fakhrul was arrested from his residence in Gulshan on October 29. Later he was arrested in the case of attack on the judge’s residence. He was released on bail on February 15 after serving more than three and a half months in prison.
Mirza Fakhrul did not participate in any party program after being released from prison. However, he held a virtual meeting of the party’s standing committee and met party chairperson Khaleda Zia. Besides, leaders of BNP’s joint movement partner Dhamakra Manch and 12-party alliance paid a courtesy call on him after his release from prison. Mirza Fakhrul also attended a meeting with diplomats at a hotel in the capital.
While in prison, Mirza Fakhrul suffered from various physical problems, including weight loss, and was seen walking around with a stick. In this situation, BNP Secretary General went to Singapore for treatment on March 3. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returned home on Saturday (March 23) after treatment.
