London: Nasir Ahmad, a member of the British House of Lords, has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for sexually abusing two minors. Nasir Ahmad, a Pakistani-British citizen and former Labor member, was sentenced to life in prison in the 1970s in Rotherham, Britain.

The sentence was handed down by Sheffield Crown Court in the UK. In a court ruling against Nazir, Justice Lavender stated that children who have been abused have been subjected to a great deal of psychological trauma. The court found that Nasir Ahmed, aged 46 and 53, had twice attempted to molest a 16-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy. Nasir, who was convicted in January, was sentenced yesterday.

Nasir Ahmed was born in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. His later political career in Britain was centered in the British city of Rotherham. Nasir Ahmad, who arrived in the UK in 1969, was appointed to the House of Lords in 1998 by then-Prime Minister Tony Blair. He resigned from the House of Lords in 2020 following allegations of sexual harassment from the Labor Party in 2013. He is married and has three children.
