Motion of disbelief: Tsakalotos compared Maria Karystianou to Julia Roberts

by time news

A strong impression was made by the parallel of the president of the association of the relatives of the victims of Tempe, Maria Karystianouwith Julia Roberts by Euclid Tsakalotos.

The New Left MP likened the “Tempe mother” to the Hollywood actress in the film “Erin Brockovich”, which tells the story of a divorced mother who, despite her lack of legal expertise, conducts a courageous investigation into the city’s water contamination Hinckley in California by the company, PG&E.

He also called Ms. Karystianou a “nemesis” for the government, however, the aforementioned simile was strongly criticized in the corridors of the Parliament as an attempt at political sensationalism.

Beyond that, he pointed out that the government cannot have hegemony in the social block it seeks to dominate, with the result – as he added – that the majority enlists authoritarianism.

“The New Left does not consider that the dominant thing is for Mitsotakis to fall. We want him to fall, but the dominant thing is for the socio-economic block that supports him to fall” he added and underlined that his party wants a society with accountability and a green transition as a response to the climate crisis.
