Taipei Taiwan has decided to increase the mandatory military service for young people to one year.

Taiwan, an East Asian country, is being claimed by our neighbor China. If foreign leaders and representatives visit Taiwan, China threatens to send warplanes to the country immediately.

The day before yesterday, within 24 hours, 71 warplanes and seven warships were sent to threaten Taiwan.

Accordingly, Taiwan’s army is also ready to face China.

In this case, the government of Taiwan has decided to increase the four-month compulsory military service for young people to one year.

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said:

Taiwan emerged as a separate country in the 1949 Chinese Civil War. But China is planning to conquer our country again.

It is threatening our border by sending fighter planes and ships. Our army is also ready to face the Chinese threat. However, we are planning to strengthen the army.

Currently, four months of military service is compulsory for young men in Taiwan. We have decided to make this a one-year service from 2024.

This new system is applicable for the youth born after 1st January 2005.

This is what he said.
