The Integrity Commission announced today, Sunday, the overthrow of a gang specialized in selling and smuggling archaeological and heritage materials, while allegedly selling antiquities for 3 billion dinars in Baghdad.

The Commission said in a statement received by the (INA): “The Commission’s Investigation Directorate in Baghdad formed a work team to investigate and investigate information it received from one of the complainants indicating that a gang for selling and smuggling antiquities and heritage materials requested a financial sum of approximately (3) billion dinars in exchange for delivering materials.” Heritage and archaeological.”
She added, “The team took the initiative to conduct investigations and investigations into the veracity of the information, and after confirming its authenticity and obtaining the judicial order, the team rushed to set up a tight ambush for the complainants in cooperation with law enforcement authorities, where the team was able to trap the gang and catch its members red-handed while receiving the payment.” The first of the amount is (1,000,000,000) billion dinars, in exchange for handing over heritage and other archaeological materials.”
She continued, “The seized materials included a valuable old antique book, a silver-colored sword with a golden-colored handle containing writings in the English language made in England along with the scabbard for the sword, an ancient antique with Arabic writing engraved on it, and a statue containing unknown drawings.”
The Commission referred to “organizing a proper seizure report of the operation, which was implemented in accordance with the provisions of Article (44) of the Antiquities and Heritage Law No. (55) of 2002, to present it, along with the accused and the seized exhibits, to the competent investigating judge, to complete the legal procedures and decide the fate of the accused.”
