The controversy is served, a TikToker has used the social network to spread several videos in which it refers to people from Latin America as «panchitos»an adjective whose use is known for its disqualifying and/or discriminatory.
Panchito, comes from the name Pancho, alias of Francisco, a name innocuous a priori, but which in this case alludes to a Hispanic-American man with an Indian appearance.
The xenophobia echoes this unfortunate jargon rooted in our culture, and there are many detractors aware of the offense who have warned the young Tiktoker of the depth of his words. Despite this, he defends himself by fueling the conflict «Oh, I didn’t know. So how do you call panchitos?”
