Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha: Prana Pratishtha (Ram Mandir consecration) today in Ayodhya. Today marks the culmination of a centuries-long journey that has witnessed many legal and political events. A child idol of Lord Rama is enshrined in the newly built Ram Temple. The consecration will take place between 12.20 pm and 12.30 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Ram Janmabhoomi at 11 am to participate in the ceremony. The Prime Minister is the master of ceremonies. After the consecration, the temple will be opened for public from tomorrow.

The pictures of the Rama idol were released the other day. The idol placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple was made by sculptor Arun Yogiraj, a native of Mysore, Karnataka. The idol is made of Shaligram stone. Shaligramam rock is thousands of years old. It is water resistant. Applying sandalwood etc. will not affect the brightness of the idol. It is a black colored stone. In Puranas and religious texts, the Shaligram stone is considered as a form of Vishnu and Sri Rama as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Height is 51 inches. It weighs about 200 kg.
