President Ranilwickramasinghe has informally expressed his concern about the comments made by foreign diplomats about Sri Lanka.
It has been reported that the President has invited foreign diplomats to the President’s office and expressed his concerns in an unofficial manner.
Clarifying the military action taken to evict the demonstrators, the President said that diplomats should contact the authorities and obtain relevant information before issuing statements.
The President asked if you would allow protesters to illegally occupy presidential offices in your countries.
The President said that in the future, the authorities should be contacted and get relevant information to issue statements based on what is published on social media.
The President stated that they occupied the Presidential Palace illegally despite a court order that clarified the military operations to the diplomats.
The President said that although the demonstrators were asked to leave the place at six o’clock yesterday morning, they refused and proposed another time, which the authorities could not accept.
The president has said that social media based statements will damage the name of Sri Lanka at a time when Sri Lanka is in dire need of aid from its allies to recover from the economic crisis.
