One of the protest leaders said that “Putin calls it a ‘special military operation’. It has been going on for almost a year. Can such an ‘operation’ last a year? It is already an open war. The government must be replaced by the leadership of the Communist Party of Russia.”

So far, the Communist Party of Russia (KPRF), founded in 1993 and headed by Gennady Zyuganov, is second in parliament but far behind Putin’s United Russia party. In the last elections in September 2021, she received 18.9 percent of the votes, which is equal to about 57 seats. In contrast, ‘United Russia’ garnered more than 300 seats.

Meanwhile, this week Germany and the USA approved significant aid to Ukraine and will send tanks to the country. Germany is expected to send 14 “Leopard 2” tanks, and the USA will send 31 “Abrams” tanks.

After the announcement of the aid to Ukraine, the adviser to the President of Ukraine Zelensky warned Putin that the war could eventually reach the major cities of Russia, including the capital Moscow. “An internal escalation of the war in Russia is inevitable, and different attacks will be carried out on different targets,” he said, “spoiled cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg will be subject to strikes.”
