On May 5, at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the “Baku Marathon 2024” will be held.
As Day.Az reported on Tuesday, registration for participation in the marathon will be held from March 1 to April 25. Persons over 18 years of age can take part in the race.
To do this, you need to contact registration points in shopping centers in Baku (28 Mall, Ganjlik Mall, Deniz Mall) or use the website www.marathon.az for online registration. The amount of payment for individuals wishing to take part in the competition upon registration is 20 manats. Corporate members can apply by sending an electronic application to [email protected]. When submitting a corporate application (at least 5 participants from each company), 100 manats must be paid for each participant. The participation of students in the Baku Marathon is paid for by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The traditional Baku Marathon, held since 2016, is aimed at supporting the development of sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The half marathon, held under the motto “Conquer the Wind,” covers a distance of 21 kilometers.
The start and finish points of the upcoming marathon will also be at the State Flag Square. Marathon route: State Flag Square – Primorsky Boulevard – Baku International Marine Station – Neftchilyar Avenue – Baku Boulevard of the White City – Khagani Rustamov Street – Baku Boulevard of the White City, 8 November Avenue, part of Yusif Safarov Street – intersection of Afiyaddin Jalilov and Uzeyir Hajibeyli Streets Uzeyir Hajibeyli – Javanshir Bridge – Neftchilyar Avenue, Bayil Circle, Bibiheybat Road (Water Sports Palace), Primorsky Boulevard (behind the Water Sports Palace, Baku Cristall Hall) – State Flag Square.
The awards will be held in two categories. Participants who took 1st place in the men’s and women’s categories will be awarded 3,000 manats, 2nd place – 2,000 manats, and 3rd place winners will receive 1,000 manats and gifts, as well as medals and certificates. All marathon participants and volunteers who provide support in organizing the race will be awarded certificates.
An entertainment area will also be created for marathon participants, residents and guests of the city on State Flag Square. Various entertainment programs, competitions, and sporting events will be held here.
The exclusive partner of the Baku Marathon 2024 is Azercell Telecom. The marathon will be organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, the Primorsky Boulevard Office and the Regional Development Public Association (ORRR). The project is being implemented by Sport Marketing Group (SMG).
