Abhay Singh Rathore, Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has declared the UP Board of Madrasa Education Act 2004 as unconstitutional. The court said that this act is against the principle of secularism. Along with this, the court has directed the UP government to accommodate the students studying in madrasas in the basic education system. Hindu Mahasabha has welcomed the decision of this court. On the other hand, the Chairman of the Madrasa Board has expressed surprise at the court’s decision. Along with this, Shia religious leader Hazrat Maulana Yasoob Abbas Saheb has appealed to CM Yogi. He said that the UP government should make such a law by which the Madrasa Board can be revived. Because of this, the livelihood of thousands of people continues.

Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Javed said that he was surprised by the court’s decision. It is a big decision, it will be reviewed. The government had enacted the Act in 2004. Today, after 20 years, the Act has been declared unconstitutional. Along with this, Dr. Iftikhar said that government grant is not available for religious education in madrassas. Rather, grants are given for the promotion of Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit. For this, Sanskrit and Arabic Persian board has been made. Both the boards are doing their work. He said that the content of Quran and Hadith will be taught in Arabic-Persian. By the way, Vedas, Puranas and Geeta would be being taught in Sanskrit.

People associated with Madrasa should maintain peace

He said that hence no grant is given to promote any religion or to promote religious education. The government had made an Act for the promotion of languages like Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit, hence the government gives grants. Also, we will do whatever we can for the betterment of Madrassas. Along with this, he has appealed to the people associated with the madrassa to maintain peace. An appeal has also been made to cooperate on the decisions of the upcoming government. Asked to do similar work for the betterment of Madrassas.
