The FBI announced today (Friday) that in the estate of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, 11 documents were found that were defined as “top secret”, Reuters reported. This, after earlier today classified documents related to nuclear weapons were found in his residence. Trump said in response that “the issue of nuclear weapons is a hoax.”

According to the Washington Post report, the unusual find of nuclear-related documents underscored concern among government officials about the types of information they believe can be found at Mar-a-Lago that could fall into the wrong hands. “Material regarding nuclear weapons is particularly sensitive and usually limited to a small number of government officials. Publishing details about nuclear weapons can provide an intelligence roadmap for adversaries seeking to build ways to deal with these systems.”
A representative of the US Department of Justice claimed that “apparently Trump violated the Espionage Act, meaning a law that prohibits the possession or transfer of national information.” During the raid, FBI agents took about 20 boxes of items, photo binders, a handwritten note and the granting of the executive pardon to Mr. Trump’s ally Roger Stone.
As you may recall, the US Department of Justice is involved in two active investigations related to Trump, one regarding the Capitol riots and the other regarding the improper handling of classified documents. In the searches conducted at the former president’s house, the law enforcement officers focused mainly on the area of the club where his offices and personal residences are located.
