by time news

The Russian and Ukrainian sides may consider the idea of Turkish mediation in resolving the conflict, Reuters reports citing Turkish diplomatic sources. Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made such a proposal.

“Both Russia and Ukraine have a positive attitude towards Turkish mediation,” one of the agency’s interlocutors said.

Recall that on January 19, the Turkish president invited the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to his country so that they could sort out “their differences.” According to the official representative of the Turkish leader, Ibrahim Kalin, the country is ready to act in any role in order to reduce tension in Russian-Ukrainian relations. The Kremlin welcomed the attempts of the Turkish side to help resolve the situation in Ukraine, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. However, in order to achieve progress, it is necessary to “encourage” Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements, Mr. Peskov noted.

On February 3, the Turkish president will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
