The head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin reacted to media reports about the Russian satellite burned down over the United States. He called for a start to find out what kind of apparatus it was, and only after that to judge the quality of the corporation’s work.
“You first figure out what has fallen there, and then judge our work,” Rogozin wrote on his Facebook in response to a user’s comment. He noted that all Russian spacecraft are working properly.
Earlier, a number of publications reported on the descent of the Russian satellite from orbit, citing the American Meteor Society. We are talking about the Kosmos-2551 satellite, which was launched on September 9 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, on October 20, the satellite went out of orbit and burned up in the upper atmosphere over the northeastern part of the United States.
