Levitsky also spoke about the study of the issue of building a second nuclear power plant in Belarus. If Minsk wants to build a second nuclear power plant, then Rosatom is ready to “give a helping hand” and participate in the project.

As previously reported, the second power unit of the Belarusian NPP is planned to be put into commercial operation this autumn. This plant with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2400 MW, located near the town of Ostrovets, Grodno region, is being built according to the Russian AES-2006 project. The first power unit was put into operation in June 2021. Since then, it has already generated more than 18 billion kWh, which allowed the republic to replace about 5 billion cubic meters. m of gas.
