Ramanathapuram– In Ramanathapuram district, apart from Paramakkudy Assembly Constituency, three assembly constituencies namely Ramanathapuram, Mudugulatthar and Thiruvadanai have been selected to construct a mini sports stadium on 6 acres at Rs.3 crore each and preliminary work has started.

11 players from Tamil Nadu participated in the last Olympics for the first time. And the government has decided to encourage and train more talented sportspersons. For this purpose, a mini sports hall is going to be set up in every assembly block to provide sports training to school and college students. As for Ramanathapuram district, the district playground is located at Pattanamkathan, Thiruvadanai block. Paramakkudy assembly constituency already has a mini sports hall. Accordingly, mini sports arenas are going to be set up in the remaining constituencies of Thiruvadan, Ramanathapuram and Mudukulathur.

For this, the district sports and youth welfare office collects information about the municipality, borough council, panchayat details, population, schools and colleges contained in the assembly constituency. According to District Sports Officer Senthilkumar, a sports hall with athletic tracks, basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, football and office building will be constructed on 6 acres at a cost of Rs 3 crore each.

For this, the work of selecting a place is going on at Periyapatnam in Ramanathapuram constituency, Thondi School campus in Thiruvadanai and Mudukulathur. A report to this effect will be sent to the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority in Chennai, he said.
