Serial production of the Russian electric cargo vehicle EVM PRO has been launched in the special economic zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his Telegram channel.

“Today, together with the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, we launched three new high-tech enterprises in Technopolis Moscow. Production of the first Russian electric cargo vehicle EVM PRO based on the UAZ chassis. Most of the components are already made in our country. Including on-board electronics and electric motors, which were developed and manufactured by Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus. The company will be able to produce up to 1,000 eco-friendly cars a year,” the mayor wrote.

Also in the SEZ, the production of lasers and laser equipment of the Lassard company and high-tech devices using technologies and solutions in the field of data transmission from Biforcom Tech began. The mayor of the capital specified that about 10 more enterprises will appear in the SEZ by the end of the year.

Sobyanin noted that last year three high-tech clusters were formed in the SEZ: pharmaceutical, electric vehicle, photonics and microelectronics. According to him, more than 200 enterprises operate in the SEZ. “Of these, 90 are residents. The companies employ more than 13,500 people,” he added.

In February, Vedomosti wrote that the production of electric vehicles in Russia in 2023 will grow more than twice as fast as the government planned, and the installation of fast charging stations, on the contrary, will lag behind these plans. This followed from the data given by officials at the strategic session on electric transport held by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov on February 8, 2023.
