The City Council of SErón has rescheduled the celebration of the ‘Virgen de la Candelaria’ for this Saturday, February 3 (whose appointment on the calendar is marked on February 2), with a proposal for snacks around the river park located next to the municipality’s sports area.
The Department of Culture, headed by Marta Domene Martínez, projected for the second consecutive year, the ancient tradition of celebrating this name day in a country setting. Thus, the current government team has planned and prepared, the making a pot of wheat and meat with almonds so that all those attending the event can taste in a unique environment that is very popular with young people from the town.
In the municipality of Serón, tradition used to bring hikers together mainly around Las Menas, where residents would travel with their food and belongings to spend the day in the area surrounded by nature.
“Last year we began the recovery of this ancient custom, in a call that was a great success with the public and participation, when young and old supported this initiative with their presence and support. That is why with the renewed government team we have maintained the idea to continue accompanying the meeting with new activities,” explains the mayor of Serón, Manuel Martínez Domene.
Among other activities, the surroundings of the municipality’s river park will host workshops and inflatables for the little ones, the distribution of the wheat pot and meat with almonds or the bar and service provided by the Rural Women’s Association and Cultural of Serón.
