Singapore City,

In Singapore, there are reports that the country’s government is considering allowing insects for human consumption and animal feed.

The government has sought comments from the Department of Food and Fodder in this regard.

If this is allowed, insects such as beetles and bees can be consumed by Singaporeans as food. Information suggests that these insects can be eaten directly or as snacks fried in oil.

The Food Safety Department of Singapore said that it has received related procedures from countries such as the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Thailand, which have been allowed to consume insects as food.

The Department of Food Safety has also said that a thorough scientific study has been conducted and it has been assessed that certain species of insects can be allowed for consumption as food.
