Kalaimamani Sethu Karunas and Karigalan jointly produced the film ‘Salliyars’. This is the second film under the direction of director Kittu, who directed Medaku.

Dr. Nandini is played by Sathya Devi in the lead role. Karunas as his father, Thirumurugan of Kalavani fame as an army villain and Mahendran as Dr. Sempiyan. Many more newcomers have also acted in this film. Karunas son actor Ken and his friend Ishwar have composed the music for this film, which has songs written by poet Kavipperarasu Vairamuthu. The music launch of the film was held in Chennai.

While speaking at this event, director Vetrimaran said, “You have to have the courage to take these events that are close to the truth as cinematography. It takes more courage to make it with money.. Director Kittu and Karunas have achieved this challenging thing together. Kittu has improved a lot in this film after Medagu. The background score for this film is very compelling.”

Karunas’ son Ken, who impressed everyone as a debutant in ‘Asuraan’, has made his debut as a music director with this film. He said, “My friend Ishwar is the main music composer for this film. I have worked alongside him. When I was told about this film ‘Salliyars’, I didn’t understand anything at first. Maybe because of the generation gap. It took us a month to figure this out. To tell you the truth, working with director Kittu is very difficult. But we absorbed the story and started composing music. In this film, actor Thirumurugan played the role of a Sinhala soldier as a villain. But when a scene of this film was shown to him, he burst into tears.”

Ken’s friend and musician Easwar says, “Ken knows very well that I have a passion for music. But unrelated to that, he asked me to leave the work I was watching and come and compose music for this film. I would like to express my gratitude to both Karunas uncle and director Kittu for introducing me as a music composer through this film.”
