Russian specialist in ear, nose and throat diseases, Anastasia Glomado, warned that snoring may lead to serious health complications.

Glomado said: “Snoring is a sign of a pathological problem called short-term sleep apnea, or what is called obstructive apnea, and this problem can be related to the anatomical features of the structure of the pharynx.”
She added, “Repeated attacks of suffocation, with low oxygen concentration in the blood, lead to drowsiness and headaches throughout the next day after they occur. Lack of oxygen also increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, heart rhythm disturbances, and high blood pressure.”
The specialist pointed out, “When the first signs of snoring appear, the person must go to a specialist doctor to diagnose and treat snoring, as only he can determine the exact cause of snoring, and that treatment in some cases may be very simple, such as changing the sleeping position, for example.”
Many medical studies had previously indicated “a link between snoring and sleep disorders associated with obstructive sleep apnea, OSA,” while experts warned that “such disorders may cause serious cardiovascular problems.”
