by time news

She is not only an actress and singer, now she is also a squadron. Noa Tzafrir flew and sang. Last week, Tzafrir launched the song “Solo in the Sky” in its female version. The song written by Kobi Lurie (lyrics) and Kobi Oshrat (melody) was originally sung by the Air Force band, with the then singer Haim Chinovich (Burned “) and tells about the feelings of a pilot, and now also of a squadron, on his first solo flight / Its from the moment of disengagement from the ground.

“I contacted the songwriters, told them that I had done a civil pilot course and asked their permission to renew the song and make minor changes to it, especially in the conversion from male language as written in the original song, to female language in my performance,” Tzafrir shares.

How did they react?
“Kobi Luria did not remember what it was about and asked ‘what song are you talking about?’ I heard from him that the song in its previous version was intended for a musical by the Air Force band. “

Solo in the sky (in the female version)

“Solo in the Sky / Debut Flight
I am a solo in the sky / wonderful and feel terrible

Solo in the sky / Virgin flight
I’m solo in the sky / hard to believe

Belt tight in advance up to the knee / I am now ready to set off
I say to myself: It’s going to be okay / I’m getting an inspector, I’m on the frequency
To the command waits quietly / when it is suddenly thrown into the air …
Flying the plane / or the plane is flying me

Solo in the sky / Just me and God
I’m solo in the sky / I’m in the clouds

Maintains speed and altitude
Delivery to myself the hat
The instructions run to the ears
A whole minute passed, actually two
I control – the hand on the throttle
Feels a bit like in the movie “…

“I was afraid to send the composers my version of the song, but their reactions were exciting. I came to pay tribute to them and to the female sector, and to bring back to consciousness a song that was unknown,” she says. The song is cool in the female version. There is no doubt that it came from within because you went through your solo. A beautiful musical production, and also the clip and the beautiful “(Kobi Oshret).

It’s time to reveal that Noa Tzafrir did not dream as a child, to be a squadron when she grows up. This is despite the fact that she is the eldest daughter of the pilot Col. (Res.) Gil Tzafrir, who has a record of 30 years of service in various positions in the Air Force, including the corps’ chief technologist. Would come home with the flight suit, and go water the garden. The world of flight was cut off from home, “she says.

Prior to her enlistment in the IDF, the daughter was forced to fend off her father’s pressure (“This is a stamp sewn on you”) to go to screenings for a pilot’s course. In response to his proposal, she made two decisions – one:

After military service as an officer in the Air Force, Tzafrir was accepted to study acting at Beit Zvi. Here for the first time she took off. Well, about. “They wanted to bring a dream exercise to the game class. I dreamed that a squadron commander, a woman, was guiding me when I was flying in a transparent helicopter. It was a good dream, but the teacher at Beit Zvi did not like it and asked” Where is the conflict? What’s the drama in the dream story you brought? “

Over the years the pilot father continued to push his eldest daughter (out of three daughters) towards the flight attendant. “Occasionally Dad would throw me comments like ‘There’s already a captain at El Al. And what about you?’ “He did not give up, I am my father’s ‘combat son’. I am a motorcycle enthusiast, I have a collection of motorcycles, I used to play on a drum set.”

Three years ago everything suddenly soared. Deep in the world of acting (movies, commercial theater) Noa’s parents gave her a unique birthday present: an introductory flight. “I was in shock. Suddenly I discovered a new world from a bird’s point of view. At the end of the flight, I called my parents and announced ‘Houston, we have a problem. I want to fly,'” she says.

The civil flight course lasted about a year and a half, most of it in the days of the Corona. At first it took off in a two-seater Cessna plane, and later it converted to Cessna with four seats. “I found similarities between the theater and the flight. On stage we make an accurate navigation axis, moving from point A to point B. Like in flight. When I navigate I can not deviate from my axis and invade another place,” Tzafrir explains. A few months ago, Noa Tzafrir received her pilot’s license: “I passed a test with a first blow.”

Who flew with you on the maiden flight?
“Of course I kept the first flight to my dad. It was very exciting. I was stressed, my dad was a voice. And as is customary in the Air Force I did with Dad a briefing before the flight and an investigation after it. Honestly I did not feel like talking to my dad, but to Col. Gil “We are proud of our daughter Noa. For her diversity of talents, her love of man and her love of flying, as well as her empowering message to young women that heaven and space are open to all.”

Is there an increase in the number of squadrons?
“I appeared to find that it was only years after M.C. Miller’s High Court began to send summonses to a pilot course for girls as well. Although there is a noticeable improvement trend in the recruitment of women for a pilot course. And yet in the Air Force, 5% of all pilots are squadrons. The situation is similar in civil airlines. For example, out of a fleet of 70 pilots there are only two squadrons. When I was in a pilot course, although I felt completely equal to boys, out of the 90 trainees we were only two trainees. “

When the singer is a squadron and vice versa, and as the wings of the 184th pilot course approached, Noa Tzafrir recorded the song “Solo in the Sky”. And sent the clip to various elements in the Air Force. The song in its female version and performance was not played at the Wings Order last weekend, but former Chief of Staff and Air Force Commander Lt. Col. (Res.) Dan Halutz shared the clip with the song that incorporates excerpts from her solo flight and wrote “Better Than Me.”

On the last Independence Day, at the end of the Air Force flight, Tzafrir participated in the civilian flight. The day before Memorial Day, she finished her performance as an actress and singer at the Memorial Day ceremony, and hurried to a briefing ahead of her participation in the civilian flight that flew the next day along the country’s shores, initiated and co-sponsored by Moon Air. The civilian plane did not pass over Hebron, but took off in a converged structure of eight planes in a low flight along the coast of the country, to Be’er Sheva, landed in the Yemen field and back next to each young pilot sat a veteran Air Force instructor. “Pilot Avishai Erel flew with me. It was an exciting closing circle, as he was the pilot who taught my dad to fly in a converged structure flight,” she shares. “Friends got excited and said ‘Noa, the commercial for a civil aviation’. Others told me that my song ‘Solo in the Sky’ was sung at the airports” she is excited.

Throughout the years of her stage career, Tzafrir made sure to incorporate social statements into her artistic work. “The Iron Song” is a satirical song in which she goes out against those who force vegans. “I was a vegetarian from the age of 7 to 22. At one point I had to go back to eating meat because my body fell apart. My motto is ‘Live and let live’ or ‘Do not get on my plate’.” Another of her songs “Sea of Flower” deals with suicide, but absorption Tzafrir, in pain, said goodbye to her good friend, Tal, who ended her life. She performed the song in the Knesset and also performed at Habima Square at a suicide prevention rally. At the same time, she volunteers for the “For Life” organization.

Noa Tzafrir, 30, lives in Tel Aviv. “While media will write that I am ‘single'” she half laughs. “I’m tired of strangers feeling comfortable behaving like they’s my aunt on Seder night and asking ‘why does a beautiful girl like you not have a partner?’. The truth is, the men in this generation have become cowards. .

In recent years, she has participated as an actress in the MSR (National Medical Simulation Marks) at the Shiba Medical Center. Here she plays various roles in front of medical candidates in medical and emotional situations. The orchard “in Beit Lessin, together, in movies, commercials and on other stages. These days when she is not in heaven, she ‘cooks’ a song and clip that deals with body image. Working on TV format: Docu Realty for flight. And more.

To accumulate flight hours, Tzafrir invites women to a barter deal. For half an hour of flying with her, she receives from them a consideration for the value of the cost of the flight from their field of activity, such as a dance class, Pilates, Shiatsu, and more. “More and more I like the idea of making flying a profession. I have a desire to do a commercial pilot’s license and join an airline as a squadron.”
