Waiting to find out who will win the second Masters 1000 of the season in Miami everything is ready for the start of the clay season.
Three tournaments that will be played in three different continents: America, Europe and Africa. The Moroccan city of Marrakech will host the only tournament on the African continent.
The Grand Prix Hassan II entered the circuit as a Challenger event in 1984 and then became an ATP tournament in 1990. In the early years the tournament founded by King Mohammed VI was played in Casablanca and then moved to Marrakech in 2016.
The Moroccan tournament is a ATP 250 and in its history it has seen two home athletes win the title (Hicham Arazi in 1997 and Younes El Aynaoui in 2002) but never anyone since it moved to the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech.
The reigning champion of the Moroccan tournament is the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena who won the tournament by coming from behind over the Frenchman Alexandre Müller.
The 2024 edition will not see any top 30 at the start but at least three of our representatives already in the main draw: Sonego, Cobolli and Berrettini.
The top seed number 1 of the tournament is the Serbian Laslo Djere who, being among the top four in the seeding, will benefit from a bye in the first round.
In the same quarter of Djere here is the Roman Flavio Cobolli, number 8 in the seeding, which Jordanian wild card Abdullah Shelbayh will make his debut. In case of success there would be a challenge with the winner of Kotov-Benchetrit.
Also in the mix is the British Dan Evans, seeded number 3. In the same quarter as the British, the reigning champion Carballes Baena, the Frenchman Rinderknech and the seeded number 5 Diaz Acosta.
The Austrian Sebastian Ofner presides over the lower part, seeded number 2. The current ATP number 40 will debut with the winner of Vukic-Müller. In the same quarter of the draw here is a challenge between veterans like the one between Wawrinka and Ramos Vinolas. The winner of this match could face number 7 seed Navone in the round of 16.
In the third quarter here is Lorenzo Sonego, fresh from the separation from Gipo Arbino. The tournament, if number 4 in the seeding, will begin with the winner between the French Moutet and the Indian Nagal.
He returns to the field after the defeat against Murray in that Miami match too Matteo Berrettini. The Roman will make his debut in Marrakech against the number 6 seed, Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko of Russia.
The patrol of Italians could thicken given the presence of Fabio Fognini in the qualifying draw. THEThe tennis player from Arma di Taggia, number 1 in the cadet draw, will make his debut with the French player Bourgue. With him also Matteo Gigante who will find the Bennani wild card in the first round
