Currently, the double track work has been completed till Tirunelveli.
130 kmph, speed
Regarding this, Southern Railway officials said:
The Chennai-Kanyakumari double track project will be completed by this year.
With this, six service trains can be added to southern districts.
Since most of them are new lines, upgrading the ‘signals’ will allow the existing express trains to run at a speed of 130 kmph.
Thus they said.
