Tele2 bought a provider to create virtual operators for 1.7 billion rubles

Two subsidiaries of the operator Tele2, T2 Mobile and Tele2-Saint Petersburg, bought 95% and 5% of the shares of TVE-Telecom, the press service of Rostelecom (owns Tele2) reported.

TVE-Telecom is an MVNE platform provider that allows creating virtual mobile operators and managing their products and services.

The deal amounted to 1.7 billion rubles, its final size will depend on the implementation of future KPIs, noted in Rostelecom. The company wants to develop its services under the control of Tele2 on the basis of TVE-Telecom “independently of third-party solutions and third parties,” Rostelecom emphasized.

“We estimate that the MVNO business will continue to grow at double-digit rates over the next few years. The acquisition of TVE-Telecom is an important deal that will strengthen the position of our company in the MVNO segment, reduce the cost of connecting new virtual operators and improve the convenience of servicing partners, “Tele2 CEO Andrey Patoka said in the message.
