The Australian Open tennis series, one of the Grand Slam tournaments, kicks off in Melbourne on the 17th. It is customary for 32 of the participating players to be ranked.
The current champion in the men’s singles is Novak Djokovic (Serbia). Djokovic has won a legal battle following a lawsuit against the Australian government’s revocation of his visa for not being vaccinated against corona. Following that he is undergoing intensive training. It is noteworthy, however, that his participation in the Australian Open continues to be questioned as there is still a possibility of his deportation.
Daniel Medvedev (Russia) is 2nd and Alexander Sverre (Germany) is 3rd in the competition. Former champion Rafael Nadal (Spain) is in 6th place.
In the women’s singles, Australia’s Ashley Party won first place, Arena Sabalenka (Belarus) second and Corbin Muguruza (Spain) third.
