The Spanish Banking Association (AEB), CECA and the National Union of Credit Cooperatives (Unacc) have expanded the ‘Financial and Digital Classroom’ platform with a cybersecurity space to strengthen the digital capabilities of the entire population in the face of the general increase in cyber scams in recent times.

Within the framework of Global Money Week – organized by the OECD International Financial Education Network (OECD/INFE), this year under the motto ‘Protect your money, secure your future’ – the associations unite the efforts of the banking sector of inform and raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in the current digital ecosystem and the need to reinforce the training of citizens in this area.

These new programs reflect the commitment and willingness of banking associations and their entities to inform and raise awareness about this problem that affects everyone.

The cybersecurity content is completed with an audio section with practical tips to prevent cyber scams, buy online safely and create strong passwords. The first survey on ‘Cybersecurity and habits of using digital channels’, prepared by Sigma Dos, reveals that six out of ten people acknowledge having little knowledge in cybersecurity, and a recent study by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) reflects that more than Half of Spaniards have suffered a scam or an attempted scam online in the last year.

The banking sector has been promoting cybersecurity information and awareness campaigns for years, in parallel with the efforts of entities to redouble the security of their systems, with the aim that all people can operate with security and confidence in the online environment.
