Another voice of concern is added to those of the president of the Hotel Association of the Prefecture of Ioannina and the mayor of Ioannina, regarding the effects on the region of the interruption of the morning flight from Ioannina to Athens of the Aegean.
The president of the Chamber of Ioannina Efthymios Chrysostomou also expresses his deep concern, noting that this decision will undoubtedly have serious effects on entrepreneurship and tourism in the wider region, and comes as a continuation of other decisions to degrade the region, such as the closure of bank branches and post offices in the recent past.
“The insult to our connectivity with the capital represents a serious blow to the business environment of Ioannina. The inability to quickly and efficiently move businessmen, executives and goods between the capital and our region, endangers the business dynamics of the region.
Furthermore, this disruption may have a negative impact on tourism, as ease of access is a critical factor in travelers’ choice of destination. Ioannina is a rich cultural and natural destination, but the lack of a good and frequent air connection with the capital reduces its tourism determining factor”, says Mr. Chrysostomou and calls on the management of Aegean to review its decision and find solutions, which will contribute to maintaining the morning air connection between Ioannina and Athens.
Finally, he emphasizes the willingness of the Chamber to cooperate with all interested parties, in order to find sustainable solutions that will support entrepreneurship and tourism in Ioannina, as well as the possibility of attracting other companies that will meet the needs of entrepreneurship, of tourism and citizens.
