Smoke from the burning Far Eastern taiga is felt in hundreds of settlements in five regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, fires continue to cover new forest areas due to hot weather, according to reports from local authorities and specialized departments on Thursday, July 22. The largest territories are engulfed in fire in Yakutia. According to the Far Eastern Hydrometeorological Center, smoke from fires in Yakutia spreads over the territory of the Amur Region, Khabarovsk Territory, Sakhalin and reaches the southwestern part of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk.

According to the headquarters of Yakutia, there are already 107 settlements in the smoke zone on Thursday, as well as Yakutsk. Earlier, the regional Ministry of Health reported that since the active growth in the number of fires, since June 6, 129 people, including 15 children, have complained of deteriorating health from smoke.

The Ministry of Ecology of Yakutia reported that 227 forest fires are blazing on the territory of the republic, the fire has passed over 1.52 million hectares. 80 forest fires are being extinguished in 18 districts. Over the past day, nine fires were extinguished on an area of ​​94.1 thousand hectares, 18 fires were localized. Over 2.1 thousand people and 288 pieces of equipment are involved in the fight against fires. The ministry also warned about the likely postponement of the opening of the autumn hunting season.

In Kamchatka, according to Avialesokhrana, the area of ​​forest-tundra fires in the Penzhinsky district (the northernmost) of the region has grown by almost 4 thousand hectares over the past 24 hours, to 112.7 thousand hectares. So, 74 km from the village of Talovka, a fire is raging on an area of ​​50.5 thousand hectares (with an increase of 2.6 thousand hectares per day). 23 km from the same village in the other direction, another large hearth is burning on an area of ​​44.4 thousand hectares. Smoke is felt in a number of settlements. Since July 15, a special fire-prevention regime has been in effect in the Penzhinsky region.

In the north of Kamchatka, almost the entire July is unusually hot, dry and windy weather.

The smoke of the fires is carried by the wind to the Sakhalin coast of the Tatar Strait. At the same time, forest fires are predicted on the island due to the heat in three districts. According to the Roshydromet department and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Sakhalin region, on Friday there is a high probability of fires in Smirnykhovsky, Dolinsky, Anivsky districts and near Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Dry and hot weather with temperatures up to 30 ° C persists on the island for several weeks.
