Toyota’s most iconic 4×4 models, Land Cruiser and Hilux, join the Toyota Proace family, which was already compatible with this type of fuel. Thus, the Toyota Hilux —production January 2023*— and the Toyota Land Cruiser —production February 2023— with the capacity to work with HVO100 are now available in the Official Toyota Spain Dealer Network.

In all cases, their diesel engines can run on both HVO100 and conventional diesel.

HVO100 – Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, or hydrotreated vegetable oil – is a synthetic biofuel that is composed mainly of vegetable, rapeseed and palm oil, and other recycled oils such as used cooking oil. It is 100% renewable and contains no fossil fuels. In addition, it can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel.

The only technical modification required for HVO100 compatibility in Land Cruiser and Hilux engines is the tuning of the fuel injection system. HVO100 is less dense than conventional diesel, but its combustion properties are identical, so this technical modification will not affect the performance or performance of Toyota’s legendary SUVs at any time.

The adaptation in both Toyota 4×4 models to use HVO100 does not alter their ability to run on conventional diesel, allowing both fuels to be used normally.

In addition, thanks to the use of HVO100 and adjustment of the injection system, a slight increase in maximum engine power is achieved.
