The federal prosecution in the Netherlands announced today (Wednesday) that the local police arrested a few days ago, at its request, Amin Abu-Rashid, 56 years old, who is defined as the “head of Hamas” in the country. His 26-year-old daughter was arrested along with him. About 750 thousand euros in cash were seized in their possession.

The suspicion attributed to the two is raising funds for the terrorist organization, under the guise of operating humanitarian charity funds. According to the Dutch media, Abu Rashid transferred about 5.5 million dollars to Hamas in recent years. Fundraising for a terrorist organization is considered a crime in the Netherlands.

The Dutch police raided the suspect’s home in the town of Leishendam and his office in the city of Rotterdam, at the end of an undercover investigation conducted in cooperation with the Dutch intelligence.

Abu Rashid previously worked to organize voyages to the shores of Gaza, which were thwarted by Israel, and organized conferences in northern European countries in support of the Palestinians and against the State of Israel. He also enlisted the support of Dutch members of parliament for diplomatic actions on behalf of the Palestinians.

The security forces in Israel passed on information about Abu Rashid’s activities in Europe many years ago. The surveillance of him began already in 2011, when he participated in one of the cruises to Gaza.

The “Ad Kaan” organization also followed the Hamas operative, and in the past published an investigation about his actions. The material collected in the investigation was handed over to the Dutch authorities.

The CEO of Ad Kaan, Gilad Ach, said in response to Abu Rashid’s arrest: “We congratulate the Dutch authorities for not being alarmed by the deep coverage of Humanright, a human rights organization in Palestine, which Abu Rashid used, and realizing that Amin Abu Rashid is the director of the Hamas network in the Netherlands. Abu Rashid transfers budgets to Hamas, receives guidance from them, takes churches and turns them into mosques, and mainly works to harm Israel and the Jews in the international arena. From here we call on the enforcement and intelligence authorities in the various countries, such as in London and the USA, to act against the terrorist organizations and the anti-Semitic organizations that operate under the guise of human rights, to stop this network and to bring about a deterrent against the terrorist organizations in the international arena as well.”
