It is Sunday morning and everything remains silent in the Casa del Teatro, a building located in the historic town hall of Coyoacán, south of Mexico City. Little by little, several women go through the gate and the space is filled with greetings and laughter. Some have traveled two hours by public transport, on their only day off, to get to the rehearsal. They all have two things in common: for years, they have been doing domestic work in other people’s homes. And for months, they have also been actresses: they form a theatrical group that represents Bernarda Alba’s houseone of the masterpieces of the Granada playwright Federico García Lorca.
