The Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the RA National Assembly, under the chairmanship of Vahe Hakobyan, discussed the draft law “On Ratifying the European Agreement on the International Road Transport of Dangerous Goods” presented by the Government at the session convened on March 16.

The European agreement was signed in 1957. on September 30 and entered into force in 1968. from July 29.

RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Armen Simonyan stated that the purpose of the agreement is to increase the safety level of international road transportation of dangerous goods by establishing unified systems of classification and labeling of dangerous substances, to harmonize the requirements for packaging, labeling and their transportation of these substances, to prevent dangerous goods during transportation harming human life and health, as well as the environment. The agreement sets requirements for the construction and operation of vehicles transporting dangerous goods, equipment.

It was also noted that the ratification of the agreement will provide an opportunity to legally regulate and control the process of transporting dangerous goods on the territory of RA, to establish legal regulations for transportation in accordance with the requirements of the agreement, and to ensure interstate cooperation.

The draft law received a positive conclusion.
