Paetongtarn Shinawatra, daughter of former billionaire prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, is among the favorites for the post of prime minister. Thaksin back?
On his official Instagram account, Paetongtarn Shinawatra said his son would be named Prutthasin Sooksawas, and nicknamed “Thasin”. The news was also shared by his father Thaksin Shinawatra, who tweeted that he would return to the kingdom to care for his seven grandchildren, without specifying a date.
Ousted from power by a coup in 2006, Thaksin now lives in Dubai to escape corruption charges that he considers politically motivated. This is not the first time he has promised to return.
