The musician behind “Alone Again”: Gilbert O’Sullivan is on his way to Israel

The concert schedule for the summer of 2023 is starting to fill up with interesting names, and on June 15, 2023, Thursday, the acclaimed pianist and composer will take the stage of the Culture Hall in Tel Aviv Gilbert O’Sullivan.

“Alone Again”, Gilbert O’Sullivan’s legendary hit, was recorded for the first time in 1972. Since then, the song topped the chorus charts all over the world, spent six weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Award and sold two million copies in the US.

These days O’Sullivan is finishing a big concert tour in Great Britain and Ireland and will wish for a world tour, during which he will come to a one-off show in Israel. In the show he will amaze with his virtuoso playing on the piano and will perform, accompanied by a guitarist, the huge hits he has accumulated over the years.

O’Sullivan was born in 1946 in the city of Taterford in Ireland as Raymond Edward, and grew up in England, where he began his musical activity. He started out as a drummer in a band he started in college. In the 1960s he moved to Front, was signed to a record deal and changed his stage name. At the age of 21, he broke into a career that produced hits such as: “Out of the Question”, “Get down”, “Clair”, and also “Alone Again”, which marched in the “Top 10” and sold millions of copies around the world and in Israel.

To date, O’Sullivan has released 25 albums. His music accompanies many films and TV series such as “The Simpsons”, the BBC series “Life on Mars”, Japanese series and more. In 2009 he visited Israel and held two performances that were a great success. In 2018, his last studio album was released, which entered the UK album charts.
