Berlin – The good news first: The number of Hartz IV recipients is currently hardly higher in Berlin than it was before the pandemic. That is quite surprising. After the state decreed that many shops, restaurants and hotels had to be closed for weeks, it was expected that the number of all those who are dependent on state aid would have increased significantly. In the meantime this has indeed been the case, but apparently it was primarily a temporary effect.
