The Iraqi National Olympic Committee has determined the regulations for sports club elections, based on the approval of the Executive Office of the Olympic Committee.

A statement by the Olympic Committee received by the (INA), today, Wednesday, stated that “the committee obligated sports clubs to adhere to many controls that would organize the work of sports clubs, and establish a mechanism for electing administrative bodies, and among the most important of these controls is the formation of the electoral committee if Elections for a full administrative body, or supplementary elections, through coordination between the Clubs Office and the Legal Affairs Department of the Olympic Committee, for the purpose of proposing the names of members of the committee supervising the elections. Therefore, the committee formed by the Olympic Committee is the administrative and supervisory body supervising the holding of elections and auditing priorities. All with regard to the General Assembly, the mechanism for conducting the election and vetting the names of the candidates.”
He added: “Obligating the sports club to inform the club office in the Iraqi National Olympic Committee of holding the administrative body elections 30 days before the election date, provided that the Olympic Committee is provided with the minutes of the administrative body, which includes (holding administrative elections or supplementary elections) with all priorities, which include (names). The administrative body, the date of their last elections, and the names of the club’s general body), and the procedures for notifying the general body by advertising in newspapers and the club’s website on social media, with the location and date of the elections determined by the club, and announcing the opening of nominations for the administrative body within a period of time not less than seven days.” .
He continued, “Sports clubs are obligated to send important meeting minutes related to changing administrative bodies and public bodies in accordance with the applicable law to the club office in the Olympic Committee, and to provide the office with a list that includes the names that have been added to public bodies, as well as the names whose membership in public bodies has been canceled and the reasons for the cancellation.” Membership, provided that this process is carried out on an annual basis.”
He continued, “Article (14/First) of the Sports Clubs Law No. 18 of 1986, amended by Law No. 37 of 1988, granted the authority to the Executive Office of the Olympic Committee to dissolve the administrative bodies, form temporary bodies for the clubs in order to streamline work in the clubs, and hold elections according to the specified period.” For the temporary body in law, which is three months from the date of appointing the temporary bodies, while I suggested not nominating or appointing the same names that had previously been nominated or appointed as a temporary body to a new temporary body, because they did not implement what was required of them, which is holding elections within the period specified for them. Under the Club Law, this is a working context for all clubs.”
He continued: “The Clubs Office in the Olympic Committee shall organize the form for belonging to public bodies in sports clubs. This form shall be unified and distributed among all sports clubs within ten days from the date of this circular. The form shall include all requirements for belonging to public bodies.”
