Reason why the Pr Marion Leboyer wants to radically change the way mental disorders are approached. Head of the psychiatry department of the Henri-Mondor University Hospitals (Créteil), director of the FondaMental Foundation created by the Ministry of Research in 2007 to support research on mental illnesses, rewarded with the Inserm 2021 grand prize, she wishes to make psychiatry a precision medicine in the same way as oncology. “Psychiatric pathologies are diseases of biological origin like the others”, insists the Pr Leboyer. Since tumors are characterized to offer ultra-personalized treatments, why should it be any different for mental illnesses?
