Yandex, after several years of promises, began testing an unmanned taxi in Moscow. True, in a limited mode: initially it was planned to include more areas in the experiment and ensure greater autonomy of the taxis themselves. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation immediately released sobering comments to this news: Russia is not yet ready to launch unmanned vehicles from a technical, infrastructural, or legislative point of view.
These remarks are not unfounded. Let’s take infrastructure constraints as an example: unmanned vehicles do not exist on their own, they require a prepared intelligent transport system (ITS). ITS is a complex system for managing the transport complex and traffic conditions; this system is based on complex mathematical models, mechanisms for working with data and probabilities. The driver robot is only part of it.
