The UN Security Council postponed voting on a draft resolution prepared by non-permanent members of the Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The vote was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 23, but now it is likely to happen next Monday, March 25.

Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, announced Moscow’s support for the non-permanent members’ document, which is also supported by a group of Arab countries in the United Nations.

In its current version, the draft resolution calls for “an immediate cessation of hostilities during the month of Ramadan, which will be respected by all parties and lead to a permanent and sustainable ceasefire,” and calls for the immediate release of all hostages without preconditions.
