The suspicion – an act of revenge: a 60-year-old man was moderately injured in an attempted murder in Ashdod

The Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court today (Friday) extended the detention of Aryeh Buchnik by seven days, this after he was arrested on suspicion of trying to murder a 60-year-old man in Ashdod this morning. According to the suspicion, Bochnik fired at the man and wounded him moderately. MDA teams evacuated the man to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon where he was admitted for further treatment.

The police forces that arrived at the scene opened by clarifying the circumstances of the incident, the background of which appeared to be criminal. Later, the police detectives were able to locate the weapon with which Bochnik carried out the shooting. The police investigators collected findings from the field and according to the apparent assessment it was an act of revenge.

The police estimate that the son of the injured man murdered Nadav Buchnik, the son of the suspect Aryeh Buchnik, in February 2020. Following that murder, Buchnik Sr. decided to carry out a revenge incident and planned to eliminate the accused’s father by murdering his son.
