The Falcon 9 rocket, as part of the USSF-124 mission of the US Space Force, launched into orbit with a group of American satellites tracking hypersonic missile launches, the launch vehicle developer company Space-X reported on the X social network. The launch was carried out from the 40th launch complex at Cape Canaveral in Florida .

The group of satellites includes two spacecraft developed under the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor program, as well as four Wide Field Of View satellites. The devices were created as part of a new low-orbit multi-level missile attack warning system. The satellites are equipped to detect hypersonic missiles.

The Pentagon explained that HBTSS satellites will help detect hypersonic and ballistic missiles faster than ground-based detection means. Several tests are planned in the near future to check the functioning of the devices. The satellites were developed by American military-industrial companies L3Harris Technologies and Northrop Grumman.
