Three natives of Dagestan, who beat passenger Roman Kovalev in the Moscow metro, were sent to the punishment cell of SIZO-7 for quarantine. Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission, announced this. According to her, all three repent, one of the accused expressed his readiness to pay compensation to the victim.

“The punishment cell is used in this case as a quarantine room, since all newly arrived prisoners are placed in quarantine in a pre-trial detention center, this is the order,” Ms Merkacheva told TASS. According to her, one of the accused, Ibragim Musalaev, complains about the cold in the punishment cell and asked to be transferred to a common cell as soon as possible. The POC member said that those arrested had no other special complaints about the conditions of detention in the pre-trial detention center.

The incident took place on October 6. Eyewitnesses said that a group of drunken men molested metro passengers. They beat Roman Kovalev, who stood up for the girl, the TFR reported. An attempted murder case was opened against the natives of Dagestan. The head of the TFR Alexander Bastrykin awarded Mr. Kovalev with the departmental medal “Valor and Courage”.
