To remove the signs prohibiting the access of parents to the school buildings. Minister Galin Tsokov gave this instruction to the regional administrations of education, reports the press center of the Ministry of Education and Sciences.

The practice of placing such inscriptions is an exception and it is not widely applied in educational institutions. However, at some schools in the country, messages can still be seen at their entrances, saying “Parents here”, “No access to parents”, etc. “This is a practice that must be stopped immediately, because it sends the wrong signal to society,” emphasized Minister Tsokov. According to him, education is a continuous process of interaction, cooperation and active dialogue.

He emphasizes, however, that for the Ministry of Education, the first priority is the care of children’s safety, and each director creates the necessary organization so that the educational process is not disturbed. In this sense, the guidelines do not mean free access for all to educational institutions, but the creation of an order for parents’ participation in the educational process, based on mutual trust and respect.

In his instructions to the regional administrations, the minister reminds that training, upbringing and socialization give results when the directors of educational institutions work in partnership with parents in the development and implementation of school policies.

Cooperation and interaction between parents and the educational institution takes place in many ways on a daily basis, including through individual consultations and parent meetings. Parents have the right not only to periodically and promptly receive information about the success and development of their children in the educational process, but also to meet with the management of the educational institution and the pedagogical specialists, reminds Minister Tsokov.

“I know that this happens in the majority of Bulgarian schools, and it is paradoxical that even in some such places, signs hostile to parents continue to stand at their entrances. In most cases, these are restrictive regulations that have remained for years, and it is time to categorically stop these practices,” Prof. Tsokov is emphatic.
