As the New Year approaches, a high-level US delegation will visit Sri Lanka.

This was revealed during a special meeting between the US Embassy in Colombo and the leaders of the Tamil Progressive Alliance.

US embassy officials have called on the leaders of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, led by MP Mano Ganesan, to visit the United States and hold talks with government officials.

The Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) said the meeting focused on the joint activities of Tamil and Muslim parties, issues facing the upcountry Tamil people, the US role in the Sri Lankan national question and future meetings of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The meeting was attended by Susan Volk, Second Deputy Ambassador to the United States, Jeffrey Sunin, Political Officer, Chandra Chapter, General Secretary of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, Velukumar, Secretary of the Finance Ministry and Member of Parliament, and Prof. Vijayachandran.
