BOLZANO. Since the beginning of the year, Guido Schumacher has directed the surgery department of the hospitals of Bressanone and Vipiteno, while Michael Engl is the head of the orthopedics and traumatology department of Vipiteno.
Both Heads were presented today, March 18, at a press conference. The two Heads are very expert in their respective fields: Guido Schumacherborn in Bonn (Germany), worked for 15 years at the renowned Charitè Hospital in Berlin and since 2009 was Chief Physician at the City Hospital of Braunschweig, one of the largest in Germany with around 1,500 beds.
Michael Engl, born in Vienna and raised in Bressanone, first worked at the Munich-Harlaching Hospital and, since 2016, was responsible for the simple structure of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Surgery department of the Vipiteno Hospital. From 2021 Engl was also Deputy Head Doctor and from 2019 doctor in charge of the Medical Directorate as well as contact person and responsible for all medical issues concerning the Vipiteno Hospital.
The provincial councilor Hubert Messner is satisfied with the appointment of the two new doctors: “Both are very experienced and have earned an excellent reputation thanks to their expertise. Their scientific knowledge will not only benefit the patients, but will also be an added value for the collaborators and team collaborators. The entire department will thus become more attractive in terms of a workplace or training place for young specialists.”
